So if I'm playing a non-vortex campaign Legendary Lord, then I'll play Vortex, but if it's a Vortex Campaign LL then I prefer Mortal Empires. One of possible factions is Clan Moulder, so there's even less problems with putting Throt into Mortal Empires (Hell Pit already exists). Assuming they mean twice the area, and not twice the side length, that means with the same amount of average distance between settlements as there was in the Vortex, a hypothetical Immortal Empires map roughly the same size as the WH3 map could fit 450 settlements. I personally prefer Mortal Empires, but I figure that the mechanics for the Vampire Coast's vortex campaign might be interesting. Two settlements (both with trade resources) makes for slow growth, and while conquering the Vampire Coast is easy, you'll be struggling with public order pretty much all game due to the permanent +3 vampiric corruption. In Mortal Empires, they are completely unrelated to a victory condition. Despite this, Mortal Empires campaigns have a tendency to be considered grindy and 'map-painty', and as a result, many Lords' campaigns often go unfinished. Solo islands with autoresolve garrisons and 360 degrees of plundering options. Thorek's campaign isn't super gimmicky so the Vortex and ME starts should be pretty distinct feeling. And Mortal Empires runs very smoothly with good load times and massive enemy empires that emerge organically to form your own end game crisis. There are probably some more that aren’t really affected much by the vortex mechanic or are just in an interesting start location. I imagine this is technically nuts, but I think the ultimate middle ground would be if more races had cool little story campaigns, and when you beat it, it integrates the resulting map into mortal empires and you can continue from there. It was to me a shame that the vortex on the mortal empires map had less effect on the game than the sword of khaine considering how important it is and all the fortreses around it, holding it does nothing. Including all the core Races and Legendary Lords from both games, Mortal Empires also allows you to begin a campaign as any DLC or Free-LC Legendary Lord from the first game. The Mortal Empires might move your position slightly, or change the map layout a bit, and is more open ended. Mortal Empires had too much cuts for my liking, and the new world portions feel cramp and lackluster compared to the Vortex map. It should be noted the turn times are 5-10 seconds longer than the current Mortal Empires. i've only played one vortex campaign. So I'm stuck with Vortex :( I really don't get it. All factions introduced in both WH1 and WH2 are available to play on it. I did Vortex and it was pretty fun. . Vortex- Story mode, cutscenes, much better missions, smaller map so things are not as condensed as in ME. I personally find the actual vortex campain a bit 'meh', but prefer the map. The dwarves will hate me for killing clan Helhein, the greenskins will hate me for obvious reasons, and besides tomb kings and lizards I don’t see any allies in mortal empires. Especially if you're interested in playing WH3 in the future. So technically, you could fight the "last chance battle" 3 times and then you'd have all the time in the world to complete your own rituals because you'd be the only player left. The one I took the time to complete was on Vortex. It will be larger than the Mortal empires map. So it’s impossible to win as a non-Order faction and there’s no one to fight if you are Order. But the other races are pretty good. Mortal Empires is mostly open, you can play a faction how you want and the game keeps on going. Eltharion, vampire coast, repanse, taurox, and wulfhart. To me some factions have more fun vortex campaigns then ME campaigns. Hey all, I've been trying to do this for every newly released version of the Vortex and Mortal Empires maps. I only play immortal empires in Warhammer III. WH2 is more challenging in general I'd say, and the factions with narrative campaigns are more interesting for me in Vortex vs Immortal Empires IMO. in vortex you have to complete really bad objectives that just make your life artificially harder. I never finished a base game Vortex campaign either but I did enjoy the DLC campaigns on the Vortex map such as Grom the Paunch etc. This is an interesting bit. Almost too easy As said no, you can play every faction on mortal empires, this dlc allows you to play empire on vortex campaign. At least by a bit. Mortal Empires has all the diversity I want, but the turn times are significantly longer, and the scaled-up map is not quite as nice or detailed as Vortex. Owning WH1 and WH2 on the same platform (Steam, Epic etc) enables the Mortal Empires campaign within WH2, a huge sandbox campaign, where you can play every basegame race from WH1 and WH2 and additionally every DLC race from DLC you own, for both WH1 and WH2. Mortal Empires for first time playing the race, Immortal Empires after. I like the vortex map better if I dont play wh1 races because it feels more dense and detailed with more flavour from dlcs. Users want all of what was given in Eye of the Vortex in Mortal empires. I want to expand elsewhere but the Mortal Empires map doesn't actually feel much bigger than the Vortex map seeing has 3/4 continents are unfinished. The ME campaign is fun, but I'm personally waiting until the May update to play it. The one thing I do like however is starting off in the corner of the map will help keep me safe, I don’t have to deal with chaos, and killing Eshin early stops them I for one would love this, the heartland of my empires in Mortal Empires tend to get all too peaceful by the late game. Order ends up in a massive alliance by turn 150 9/10 times. It has all the content from game 1 but updated and improved. Also vortex have few unique victory conditions which mortal empires dont. To me, you just don't get the full experience in Mortal Empires. Northern Naggoroth and Western Lustria seems empty with lots of ruins in both Vortex and Mortal Empire. For example, FLC lord Imrik starts in the desert with the Tomb Kings in vortex and in ME he starts all the way east, almost into the Darklands around Malus and Sniktch. I think Lustria is overall bigger. Would it be reasonable then to project that our next DLC (presumably HE vs Greenskins) will also focus on a single continent? Factions in Eye of the Vortex vs Mortal Empires As per the title, think of this as a sort of short evaluation of the two campaigns and the pros and cons of each faction therein (restricted to WH2/Vortex factions). I'd love to be able to turn the race mechanics off and have a domination campaign using that map. If there isn't, then I'll play Snikch on Mortal Empires and then probably Morathi as my Dark Elf choice. So, unless somebody's hankering for a specific Vortex Experience, Mortal Empires tends to be the go-to way to play factions from both Warhammer and Warhammer II. Having the game reach turn 300 and having only 5 to 10 races left in power to duke it out is what I consider part of the Total War experience in this game. Like Mortal Empires Immortal Empires is disconected from the Rifts of Chaos/Vortex Campaign and their stories. Just dont do the rituals until the end.
